The Tiger Letter: Winter 2005
The 2005-06 season of men’s basketball at Mizzou is not just another season. It is their 100th anniversary season. To
celebrate this milestone, an All-Century team is being created. It will feature thirty of the best Mizzou players over
the last 100 years. Twenty of these players will consist of the All-American honorees, and fans will be able to vote for the
final ten players. Fans can vote by ballot, and write-ins will be accepted. Ballots are available at any First National Bank
branch in Columbia; at Mizzou Arena during games; and at www.mutigers.com, the official website of Mizzou Athletics.
Voting will continue through December 31, 2005, and the All-Century team will be announced on January 16, 2006, at the Mizzou-Kansas game. On February 12, 2006, the All-Century team will be honored at the Mizzou-Kansas State game. This night will
also consist of a former players’ reunion, anniversary activities, and a throw-back uniform that is a replica of the
1994 uniform Mizzou wore during its undefeated Big 8 Championship season. A limited edition set of merchandise will also be available to commemorate the 100th anniversary.
“It is unique to reach 100 years,” said Frank Cuervo, Assistant Director of Athletics. “We’ve had a variety of great
coaches, players, and facilities over the years. Hopefully, we can have another 100 memorable years.”
"In addition to the main shop, Embroider It also has a kiosk in the
Columbia Mall that carries mostly t-shirts."

Two popular annual events for Tiger fans took place in Columbia this fall. Close to 13,000 Columbia residents enjoyed the festivities of the Tiger Twilight Festival in The District. Popular elements of the festival included carriage rides,
face painting, clowns, live music and a Tiger Rally parade down historic Eighth Street featuring Marching Mizzou, Golden Girls,
MU Cheerleaders and Truman. The evening ended with a concert by Mini Mizzou. The Columbia Mall hosted the fifth Tiger Rally Night in Café Court with close to 350 Tiger Fans enjoying prizes, giveaways, and the MU Helmet Car along with plenty of spirited
music by Mini Mizzou. On hand were representatives from the MU Soccer and Volleyball teams along with the Golden Girls, Mizzou Spirit Squad and Truman the Tiger. These events are co-hosted by Intercollegiate Athletics and MU Licensing and Trademarks.
2006 will mark the 25th anniversary of CLC. So, how did it all begin? In 1981, while working for a company in Selma, Alabama, CLC founder and CEO Bill Battle signed the legendary coach Paul “Bear” Bryant to a licensing agreement. In the process of developing a licensing program for Coach Bryant, Battle discovered that The University of Alabama did not have a licensing program. Alabama soon signed on as CLC’s first school. Eight other schools quickly followed, and in 1983, Battle bought out the rights to the licensing business and moved the newly formed Collegiate Licensing Company to Atlanta. Today CLC represents 170 schools. The Consortium represents the combined retail power of all CLC’s members. The Collegiate Licensing Company’s nearly 25 years of experience and service have guided and shaped the collegiate market and will continue the tradition into the next century.
Since its inception, CLC has helped its member institutions become the most powerful and collective voice within the collegiate market. It is CLC’s goal to protect, preserve and maintain the integrity of our members’ marks while ensuring that fans across the nation have access to the quality licensed merchandise they deserve.
